Some of the Reasons Why You Should Choose a 2024 Mazda CX-90

The new 2024 Mazda CX-90 is a great choice if you are looking for a new family SUV that is practical, elegant, safe, and fun to drive. Here are some of the ways it stands out from its competition.

Enough space for your family

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is the only vehicle in the brand’s lineup that can carry more than five passengers, now that the CX-9 has been discontinued. With its generous interior space, the CX-90 can seat up to 8 passengers when configured with both the second and third-row bench seats. If you don’t need to transport more than six people at the time, the upper trim level’s second-row captain chairs and two-person rear bench seat will provide even more comfort and shoulder space for all. In both cases, the CX-90 offers a large cargo area that can be configured in many ways by folding one or more rear seats, opening up as much as 2,129 litres of space.

A high level of safety

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is one of the safest new vehicles on Canadian roads, as confirmed by the IIHS. Indeed, the latest model in the Mazda lineup was recently rewarded with the Top Safety Pick+ title, the highest distinction in terms of automotive safety. This is because the CX-90 benefits from all of the latest driver assistance technologies available from Mazda, such as blind spot monitoring, vehicle exit warning, rear cross-traffic alert, front cross-traffic alert, road sign recognition, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, front and rear autonomous braking, lane-keeping assist, driver attention monitoring, a 360-degree camera system, and active headrests, among others.

Dynamic and fun to drive

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is one of the most enjoyable SUVs to drive in its category due to its unique architecture and its brand-new electrified powertrain options. The CX-90 is the first Mazda vehicle to use the brand’s rear-wheel drive-biased platform, a design more common in the premium segment. This platform gives the CX-90 more dynamic handling characteristics which are complemented by the standard i-Activ all-wheel drive system and the new 3.3L turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine. Combined with an equally new 8-speed automatic transmission and a mild-hybrid system, this engine delivers 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque in the entry-level versions, while the higher trim levels benefit from 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

The available plug-in hybrid

The 2024 Mazda CX-90 is also the first Mazda model to be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that provides impressive power and fuel economy, with an all-electric range of 42 kilometres. By combining a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, electric motors, and a 17,8 kWh battery, this system generates an output of 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque while still providing an equivalent combined average fuel consumption rating of only 4.2 Le/100 km.
