Here is Our First Look at the New 2024 Mazda CX-70

Mazda has just unveiled the new 2025 CX-70, a premium two-row SUV that joins the CX-90 in the lineup as an alternative for drivers who want the style and technical aspects of the larger model, but don’t need the higher passenger and cargo capacity.

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 is designed with the driver in mind, emphasizing superb driving dynamics, a sleek and sporty design, as well as a focus on spacious interiors and cargo capacity. Whether navigating city streets or pursuing lifestyle activities, the CX-70 promises intuitive handling that keeps the driver engaged and in control.

Following from the CX-90, the new 2025 Mazda CX-70 furthers the electrification of the brand’s lineup by featuring the same powerful and efficient powertrains as its larger relative. This means that the standard CX-70 is powered by a new 3.3L turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine while the available PHEV version is equipped with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17,8-kWh battery. While we don’t know the full specifications for the CX-70 just yet, its smaller size and weight should make it more dynamic and more efficient than the CX-90.

The design of the 2025 Mazda CX-70 is obviously very similar to the CX-90, which means it features an athletic posture that makes it stand out from other SUVs. The vehicle's aggressive appearance is enhanced by a wide and low front fascia, chiseled front end, and contrasting black accents throughout the exterior. The 21-inch wheels, available in black metal and machine-cut finishes, add to the CX-70's commanding presence.

Inside, the meticulously sculpted interior is wide and open, yet personable and comfortable. A variety of expressive interior colour options, high-quality materials, and finishes contribute to a timeless yet sporty ambiance. The availability of Garnet Red Nappa leather with red stitch detailing pays homage to the 100th Anniversary Special Edition MX-5.

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 benefits from many advanced driver assistance technologies, including Unresponsive Driver Support, an emergency system that automatically decelerates and stops the vehicle if the driver is unresponsive. The CX-70 also features a Trailer Hitch View with a viewfinder for seamless trailer connection and offers a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. Another useful feature found in some CX-70 models is a 1,500W power outlet that can be used to power all sorts of accessories.

The integration of Amazon Alexa further enhances the CX-70 experience, allowing hands-free commands for tasks like adjusting temperature, changing radio stations, and controlling smart home devices. This marks a milestone for Mazda, as the CX-70 becomes the first Mazda crossover to feature Amazon Alexa, a technology that is intended to reduce driver distraction and increase user-friendliness of the vehicle’s infotainment system.

As you can see, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 promises to be a compelling option in the mid-size SUV segment thanks to its stylish design, its advanced powertrains, its cutting-edge technologies, and its overall refinement.
